Some misc. surface shots of whales:

I was paddling when the whale below decided to breach. By the time I dropped the paddle and got the camera up... It was a beautiful full breach though, really!

A sub adult surfaced near by me and was headed in my direction. With a wiggle and some pec action on the surface, it seemed the whale might have some spunk in it:

After the tail series I got above, I noticed there was quite a boil in the water where the tail had disappeared. I suspected the whale had something in mind besides a quick drift to the depths. I had rapped on the waveski to make some noise and let the whale know I was up above it. I also suspected it had swam under me but that was just a guess. A minute or so later, the guess was confirmed when he came up for a partial breach behind me. Not being ready with camera pointed in the right sector, I missed the shot but got the aftermath.

I hoped for a second breach and I was ready but all I got was a few pec waves and half tail.

Not expecting any more action from the whale and with good waves breaking in on the reef, I paddled back in. Outside the break, I came across a honu:

On another day and not far off the beach:

When the escort would show at the surface, it seemed inclined to nose up, perpindicular to the mother. The calf was quite small and probably not very old.

I think the calf might have been feeding . It was either not visible on the surface or up forward and above the mother's head. The mother remained on the surface for probably a half hour or so. In the two shots below, the escort had surfaced again.
