
Mother's "blow hole" just dropping below the surface in the shot above. This helps one consider how much of the whale is forward of their dorsal fin.
On one surfacing, the mother and calf were quite close and swiming directly at me.

The calf was romping around and would swim into the mother. In the shot below, the calf is sliding along the side of the mother and you can see its tail partially out of the water and draging along.



Above, you can see the mother's pectoral fin below the surface and the calf's head is on the surface above it. Zoom in shot, below:


They obviously went down just before getting to me and suspecting I might get some type of image, I held the camera below the surface and hit the shutter.
